John "Wid" Martin

Well what to say, 2008 really stunk. Makes me want to throw my shoes at someone ( dam that guy had one hell of an aim! But old boy Bush could move!!). Some things got done; My uncle Dick, my Dad, and I spent three weeks in the driveway this summer making a mess with fiberglass, body filler, and spray paint, but in the end we did make our cars look a little better...we could argue. On the 4th of July we mounted up with Dick's collection of 19th century black powder pistols and rode out west (of town) to do some blastin. First shot Dad started a fire with his rifle, due to the dry weather (two weeks before there had been massive flooding, huh Martin luck I guess).

I helped my landlords build a rock wall in front of their house by hand picking quartzite from the Baraboo bluffs, it wasn't a whole lot of fun and they got a really good deal, but they have also been quite generous folks by not charging me rent. The wall does Look nice though and did make the front page of the paper.

My friend from Tahoe came out for a couple of visits this year; we hiked everyday and bantered about cool stuff like the economy and the depressing state of world affairs. It's always good to see Valerie. She is very patient and understanding.

A few friends and I started getting together this summer and playing music for kicks. Well mostly making noise and teasing one another, and we don't get a lot done, but somehow it takes us away from the small town idiopathic gloominess for a few hours most weeks. Yeah don't expect to hear anything.

Let the great winds of destiny keep blowin'.

Peace, Wid
