Last Christmas Sam was just a little puddle of a dumpling.... one week old. Now he's about to turn one year! Life has completely turned into parenthood for us. When we go out on the town without the little guy it's totally exciting and freeing until we realize we just want to go back and cuddle with him before we've even gotten to where we're going!! He is just beginning to take his first steps (shuffles, really, but he twists a bit and can't figure out how to turn his feet back straight), he points to everything (dramatically, think "behold!"), and he dances like a maniac (his favorite move is "raise the roof"). He loves to put things places (ah, ode to new concepts!)... every day we have to clean out all the random objects under our couch. Our once adult looking house is now somehow covered with little toys that really hurt when you step on them.
Beyond Sam (is there such a thing?)... Chris is doing great at work. He's moved to a new position in Boston Scientific, working on competitive intelligence. He takes what he learns about what their competitors are doing and strategizes how to respond - either through marketing messages, introducing a new product, etc. Lucy is working one day a week from home for the same team, R&D at Travelers. She's been helping with analyst development, project reviews, and business strategizing... but no management (hurray!).
We were lucky enough to have Grandpa Jerry visit in the spring, and have had a few trips down to Kansas City to visit Grandma Debby and the rest of the fam. The car was always packed to the gills. Grandma Debby had a sudden need for heart surgery in October but has been making a great recovery since. We've been amazed at the resilience of the human body! Uncle Grant (Chris' brother) got engaged to Shana in October. We're so excited for them! And we love Shana!
We hope everybody has a wonderful Christmas.
Love,
The Jones'
